i feel kinda bad voting on the 70's challenge because i am just too young to get a lot of the referances.

im using someone elses (bear_musics?) voting method of breaking it down into 4's and 6 and going from there... i'll try to keep my ignorance to a minimum ;)

Thats why i'm not voting in this challenge (and didnt enter either).

The only way I could possibly vote for this one is to ignore the challenge/title and vote based on image quality alone!

I was born by the end of 1980, and still could get a feel of it. It's just a matter of been curious to look for stuff, even if it was not ur time!
Cultural matter as well! We all live through the remains of those years, with a technological touch to it!

That my friend is nothing to be ashamed of. I was employed as a police officer in the 70"s , and that ...WTF puzzled look crossed my face on countless numbers of occasions believe me.

They were however, truly great times.

I would venture to say that some of us probably are...but we may or may not remember.

I really think getting Dr. Frank N. Furter from the Rocky horror cast ( I know a bunch of people on the cast) woulda made a picture more people could have related to. I couldn't get the photoshoot though... they're too busy partying till 6 in the morning :-(. Oh well, rocky horror was btw, 1975.

I was born in 1955 so I had a great time in the '70s but if the challenge had of been say the '20s I still could have conjured up something that evokes feeling from that period. One must pickup general knowledge along the way of different time periods, ancient & modern.

Wouldnt 1970s be different for different parts of the globe?

I wonder what the continental distribution of DPC members is - i.e. what percent are American, Europeons or Asians?

For those of you too young to remember the 70's...

Rent Dazed and Confused... Watch a few episodes of that 70's show (from the first season or two only)... Put Dark Side of the Moon in the CD player... Find a lexan bong at a garage sale (remember that this was before "just say no")... And you're basically there

Ouch, that hurt....now I feel my age!! I was born in 1972 when the Vetenam War was still in progress. End of it at least. However, if we would have a challenge about the 90's I wouldn't have a clue about that pop culture period. To old to get "jiggy with it". :) So I guess we are even. Opps, I somehow remember "The Hansons" with that darn song still stuck in my head, "MMM BOP"..... :) Great, now I'm going to loose sleep. Pehaps I should put on some Blondie, or the Bee-Gee"s and dream of my youth.

Yes, this is true. History from that era has been collected and kept. I'm currently taking a class in Americna History, the 20's are very exclusive with details from the decade. A little research can only be of good. I'm sure that too, the 70's are searchable and one could collect info from that decade without any problems.

Hmmmm, good point. Pop culture differs from one county to the next. However, I bet if you were today to do a websearch on the 70's.....a bunch a crap about the 70's were to be found from America I bet.

I was not too keen on the 70s the first time through, I really donĂ¢€™t need to see it all again. This will show my age but the 70s is when music started to go down hill, oh there were still some good songs from the 70s but it was on the way down. I donĂ¢€™t think there was a worst decade for television, just terrible. Fashion was about as bad as it gets. So having lived through the 70 and very glad that they are long gone I just canĂ¢€™t bring myself to vote on this challenge.

BTW is you want to see bad TV and bad fashion at the same time watch reruns of Starsky and Hutch.

Now the 60s I enjoyed.

If the age shown on your profile is accurate,,, you would have enjoyed the latter part of the 60's whilst in your teens right. Could it be that your enjoyment may have been attributable to your age and not so much the prevailing social conditions.

I too enjoyed the 60's but much preferred the 70's, probably because of all the changes that occured.

Part of the problem is that what most people refer to as "The Sixties" seemed to occur (in the western US anyway) between about 1965 and 1974 ...

The decade of the Sixties was really split, I think mainly by the assasination of JFK. The early part was the Civil Rights Movement and the standoff with the Russians over Cuba, the latter part was the anti-Vietnam/Summer-of-Love rock-n-roll revolution ... which out here held sway until the onslaught of Proposition 13 and Disco ...

Thanks ever so much for that insight General.

Come to think of it,,, there were major differences in Canada also, in that some provinces were a great deal more conservative than others and as such, some fads and changes occured later.

Funny how on occasion we need others to remind us of the reality of the environment we grew up in.

Ray.
