For those who have a 6+ mp camera i would sudjest checking out alamy, myloupe and pixibit.

Leaf,
I never heard of pixibit. Have you been with these sites long (including Alamy and MyLoupe) and seen any sales?
Thanks,
John

Originally posted by deapee: Not to mention, in the rules, it states that you must only include a model release if a face is visible...then you have the reviewer telling everyone on the message boards that no matter what, if it's a person and you don't have a model release (back turned or not), he will reject the photo. Then, you have people like me who call them out over it, and Jon responds in his little, amateur manner instead of acting like a professional like he should.
I've seen him involved in many heated debates both here and over on shutterstock while trying to promote his 'business'. Unfortunately, I don't think he acts like a professional, and I think, ultimately, that will be Shutterstock's biggest downfall. |
I don't think "calling someone out" is a professional way to approach solving a business problem ... |

no i haven't made sales with these sites yet, however my portfolio on these sites aren't that extensive. I need to do more model work, and more business shots.
Myloupe is just starting out, but seem to be good. They are good with informaing us what is going on, and seem to have a fair bit of traffic, they have a good upload system.
Alamy is by far the largest an best of the three... people make a living off of that site, I just started there. You have to send in a cd to get images online.
Pixibit... i am not sure about them, i just have a few images there, you have to send in a cd to get them online. Seem small and not that busy

Well I guess this is as good of place as any for me to make my first post here. I have been using Shutterstock and 3 other micro payment agencies for a while now and have developed a fairly large portfolio of images on each one of them.
I do the least amount of work and get the most return from my images at Shutterstock. I earn a little over a hundred dollars a month there, this month was even better then most. The images I have on the site were mostly shot with micro payment stock in mind.
The way I see it is that these sites are a long term proposal for me. I make plenty of money shooting documentary and editorial images for production companies shooting TV commercials and covering large scale events like Las Vegas Conventions. The money coming from sites like Shutterstock is pure gravy but it is adding up quick. 2-300 dollars extra each month is extra cash for equipment or entertainment. Over the course of time I anticipate that the monthly income from large portfolios of images on these sites can actually equate into real income.
So I am NOT going to leave my referral link here. I have one but I figure if anyone want to join there are plenty of choices on the forum already.
