I think I have decided on the following:

350D Rebel XT
Tamron 28-75
Canon 50mm 1.8
Canon 70-200 f4
I'll wait on the Wide angle - my birthday is in May

Thanks for everyones help. Now I just have to wait an eternity until the Rebel XT comes out.

If you are moving up from a non-dlsr, get a big bag to carry it all in.
If you shot RAW (or plan to) get 2or 3 Gb of memory cards.
Depending on what you do, a spare battery is not needed for awhile

I whole heartedly recomend a flash - teh Sigma EF-500 DG Super E-TTL II or Canon 550ES ($200 and $275 respectively). Different folks like each one for various reasons...I will likely go Sigma.

Filters...for lens protection or effects (try some Cokin P ones for versatitily and less cost)
