LOL- I believe he served 'stick,' not 'steak,' but I love the analogy. ;-)

To carry it one step further, I believe it's stick with a side of schtick...

As a former high-end professional chef (after I closed down my photography business), let me carry that analogy a little further: While I can (and do) cook in "Cordon Bleu" mode, I still enjoy McDonalds and Wendys. I'm not a snob, in other words, I enjoy the beauty of the commonplace just as much as more intellectual or etheral things. Hell, I put a DOG TAKING A POOP in "Candids", and a shot of a hiking boot in "Movie Titles", not to mention my stack of clutter that bombed to the 7th percentile in "resolutions"...

Bear, first of all, I have much respect for your intellect, artistry, photography and would LOVE to gain respect for your cooking ( :-P ) however, I would have been in the camp that voted this very low. IMHO this is not a self portrait that would fit the traditional definition of the style of photography which once again IMHO is what was asked for in the challenge. I can however, appreciate the thought, effort and self exploration that went into this shot.

I not so long ago proposed a 'Self Portrait sans Self' challenge and this shot would be a perfect example of what would (spelled 'should') do well in such a challenge!
