Anyone else out there have any experience with the DOF preview working...if so, how does it work? Thanks

Look in the viewfinder with mounted telephoto lens ,focus the camera , then push the button.
Camera will show you what is in the focus ,what not !

pitsaman is not wrong, but he missed an important point...

Pushing the button will make no difference if the apeture for the given shot is going to be the max for the lens/focal length.

To really see what DOF preview does, select 'Av' mode, dial up F/16, and then push the button while looking through the view finder.

Apeture blades...

Yeah, I know, picky picky picky.....

Although I'm guilty of that as well, looks really cool on larger apetured lenses like the 50/1.8 etc.. You put he cam in Av mode, hold the button and adjust the apeture with the dial.. It opens and closes, just like magic. :-).
