All kidding aside, from what I hear and read (take salt) issues at around 10.000 would be early, at 30.000 I'd be thinking about it, at 50.000 I'd boast, at 100.000 I'd expect to be wined and dined by Canon Executives.

If it's any indication, I had to replace mine late last year after about 20-30k actuations.

I've always heard 100,000. I've shot 20,000 on my old camera and 10,000 so far with the 20D.

;-)

I'm up to 21,000 with one Rebel and 28,000 with the other (bought used). Both are still flying right along. :)

Ok, so I am really dumb here......

Do you tell the number of clicks by the file numbers? Because if that is how you do it, I have taken 13,000 + in less than one year with my D70!!! (I have hit file number 9999 and I am on number 3115!)
02/18/2005 08:46:49 AM · #10
you can check the exact number of actuations on a decent Exif viewer such as Opanda's IExif.

i've only had my camera about 3 weeks so havn't had too many so far :P

20,000 in four months.

I'm around 24,000. Skiprow has over 52,000 clicks. Looks like you're safe.

Yikes. 10,000 in four months. I find it hard to believe or accept this camera will only last a year at that rate.

your camera should have an auto-numbering mechanism for naming the images it captures.

The camera numbers my photos sequentially. My last photo was named IMG_5266.JPG, and it's rolled over twice, so I'm at 25,266 clicks.

Wow...I'm at 9k something and I got my 10D before the 300D even existed. 10,000 in four months? That works out to over 100 a day or one photo every 15 minutes - more like one every ten if you actually sleep. That's just bizarre.

Shannon, be careful, there's a 10,000 click limit on each child. I have exceeded mine and I can no longer take pictures of my children. :(

100 per day is pretty easy and can be done within an hour or two.. or atleast i do.. i just fill my 512mb card with RAW's whenever i take my dog out (about 97)

but i don't go out every day lol, only because i don't have time! :P
02/18/2005 10:21:32 AM · #23
Now i see i wish i would have kept that in my when i first started using my camera or before i set it to renew instead of continous.

I'm picturing a dog with its legs crossed dancing up and down by the door.
