Sweet. The low noise is the greatest advancement. It may rival the low noise of the 20D.

* Putting a II designation on a crappy lens isn't going to make it any better.

there's nothing crappy about the 18-55...you just have to know how to use it.

agreed :) ... at first I felt it wasn't great but I use it often know because I have nothing else wider than 28.

All I care about is when is it coming out and whether I can make and exchange with my Rebel.
02/16/2005 09:01:49 PM · #14
I might have to try and see if I can exchange my beast for that beast. same type of sensor as the 1ds -- 8 mp, 3 fps and 14 frame burst...that's insane. hrmm...I hate the rebel xt.

and btw...I never said *I* knew how to use the lens or the camera, only meant that I've seen some really good photos taken with the kit lens.

I found a date! I don't know how reliable it is, but in my opinion, Google rocks. March 13th

Not quite. Closer to the type the 20D has. The 1Ds has a full frame 11Mp sensor.

"The Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT features Canon's DIGIC II processor, proven in Canon's pro-series Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II and EOS-1D Mark II cameras" same type, no?

Processor, not sensor.

I'm a bit upset, bought the DR late September 2004, so I didn't qualify for the rebate and now Canon does this to me??? Again, it seems that the XT has a same processor and sensor as the 20D and it even has the same start up time and monochrone ability, and FEC??? So besides the plastic vs. the magnesium body, is there any functional difference? Who would buy the 20D instead of the XT, assuming that XT goes for 1 grand??? and will Cannon replace the XT in two years as it did with the beloved Digital Rebel?
Personally, I don't plan on an upgrade anytime soon as the demand will drive up price and you won't be able to get a discount soon, but am thinking about keeping the DR as it may have some value as a collectors item many years down the road, as I think this really was a landmark camera in the dSLR world.

Where did you get the price? I thought it would start for more then that.

Ok, I need one, depending on the price! I will probably sell my Rebel and upgrade. Smaller body and less noise sells me. Who wants to guess the price.
