How do you focus when there is not enough light for the AF to work?
This weekend I tried to take a pictures of ducks on a pond at night. There was barely any light. The D70's AF could not focus at all. I wound up trying manual focus, but i could not tell though the viewfinder whether its in focus or not. I could not tell from the display either.
The shots of course were out of focus... |

Use a flashlight to temporarily illuminate the subject before the shot if possible. One solution.

If your lense has a distance scale on it and you are pretty good at judging distance, manually set the distance on the lense and start bracketing the distance. If your subject remains still enough, one of the shots should come out. |
