These are from my first real outing with my D70. We've had a lot of rain lately, and that, mixed with the Super Bowl, illness, the usual chores, etc., has managed to keep me limited to shooting a few things around the house. Until now.

Thanks to Bear Music for the suggestion on how to protect my camera. Here are a few samples of what I came back with.

Way cool frog. Camera's as sharp as a tack, ain't it? Glad the freezer baggie technique worked for you.

Robt.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm really enjoying the D70, even though I'm doing mostly just point & shoot for the moment.

The frog was a complete accident. I was walking along a path next to the lake, and stopped to check the face of my lens for water, since the wind had changed. There were drops of water on the lens, so I turned out of the wind to clean it & happened to look down. 3 feet below me was the frog.

It's so much fun the first time out with a new camera! I like the frog a lot, but the heron is my favorite - it shows the weather.

Not to hijack your post, but can either you or bear_music please share the freezer baggie trick? I'm often out shooting in bad weather, so this sounds really helpful.

Take a ziplock freezer bag & cut a hole in it just large enough to get your lens thru. I used a rubber band to help seal the bag around the lens. You'll probably want to cut a hole to allow your hand access to the lens for focus/zoom. I also cut a hole for the eyepiece. Once I had that lined up I cut one last hole on the top, over the flash, and used that to tape the bag securely to the camera. Voila!

I also used the bayonet hood that came with my lens for a little extra shielding from the rain.

Thanks for the quick answer. It sounds a little complicated, but I'm sure once I get the scissors, freezer bag, rubber band, and camera all out on the counter, I'll be able to figure it out in no time.

Aronya1, I can't wait to see more shots with your new D70. Congratulations and have a blast!
