Recently I discovered a joy and challenge of photographing birds. My lens is pretty short for birds (70-200) but I managed to take a few nice shots. Now I have to find out what some of these birds are. Please comment and let me know how you like it.

Top right and bottom left are my favourites, where did you shoot them?

They are all quite good. I especially like the Black and White Warbler (top row, right picture). Marked it as a favourite. The left image in the top row seems to be a Northern Mockingbird. The right image on the bottom row is of a Pileated Woodpecker. Good job getting a shot of that one. They are quite shy and somewhat difficult to photograph.

Top left could be a catbird, but I could be wrong. Top right is a nuthatch I believe, what exact species I'm not sure. Bottom left are cocatiels.

Great shots. I think the top right (146237) is a female black and white warbler. The shot of the Pileated is excellent and a great find. Like it was already said they are had to find and shot.

I love the top right, a black and white warbler. I think warblers are very difficult to photograph because they are pretty small and they like to hop around and never sit still. He must have been pretty close to you. The sharpness is excellent. I like the black and white bird against the colorful bokeh of the background. Nice shots.

Were these all "in the wild", or do you have an aviary you were working in? Very nice work.

Thanks for the comments. The pictures in the top row were taken in Varadero, Cuba, while on vacation a few days ago. While my family was lying on the beach, I was busy taking pictures... it was too hot for me. Family holidays are not the best for taking pictures. I heard constant complaints, "Stop taking pictures!". I am at the moment working on these pictures and will post them on my smugmug account next week.
The parrots are the residents of the greenhouse at the UofA in Edmonton. The woodpecker, I spotted in a park not far from my house.

Left ya a comment on the lower left shot. These are Cockatiels (we have 3 at home) and I must say the moment you caught is priceless.

Great job you got there. I'm amazed by the parrot couple. I'd like to be a serious twitcher myself. Bird photography needs patience as you may know but the outcome always pays. My suggest is to get a bird field guide to identify them. It's more fun to know what you have discovered. Have a look at some of mine.
