Help,Can't decide which flash gun to get for the Canon 300D.Have looked at Sigma EF 500 ST DG and Sigma EF 500 Super DG does anybody know what the difference is apart from the price? Or is there another brand to consider?. I did not mention Canon flashs as I have read the Sigma flash is better.I like the price of the Sigma EF 500 ST DG but don't know what I'll be missing out on against the EF 500 Super DG.

The super is designed to be compatible with the ESO line of cameras from Canon, while the ST is not capable of understanding all the information from that line of cameras. This review fromPhotoNotes.org goes into some detail in the 500 line and compares them to the Canon 550. As someone who owns the Super DG I think it is a fair comparison of the disadvantages of the Sigma as compared to the 550, but for the price I think it is a great flash. If I had the buckets of money needed, I would have prefered having 2 550s.

I own a Sigma 500 DG ST and am more than pleased with it. It only cost me £79 her in the UK. I would recommend a diffuser to soften it up. Here are a couple of examples. It is compatable with all EOS cameras, dont know what features it is lacking in but the TTL works fine.
