What lens would you choose if you were looking to take pics of a 2y/o in a park setting? He is always on the move! Compair the sharpness and pic quality. If they were priced the same which would be the better one for what I want to do?

Be careful, that 135mm f2.8 is a soft focus lens. You may not want that feature full time. Besides, you can obtain soft focus by properly using gaussian blur in PS.
Since the little guy will be moving, you may want to buy the zoom lens unless you plan move a lot yourself to recompose. That can be a real pain sometimes.

| optically, the prime is faster and sharper (when not is SF mode), but as Denis said, it isn't very versitle for tracking children. |

The soft focus mode can be turned off. The 135/2.8 Soft Focus is a pretty good value, but I'd agree with it's limited versatility for this purpose.
When I'm shooting my young nieces & nephews and I want candids, I use a 70-200. this gets me out of their immdeiate sphere of attention and emables me to get true candids.
