The big news is it can print 13"x 19" as well as panoramic up to 13" x 44" and it will sell for $549.

That is very exciting news - I am anxious to hear when it will hit the street. |

I thought they would call it a 2500. We knew it was time for a replacement for the 2200. Maybe I'll trade mine in. |

I was think about going for the Canon i9900 but now I'm torn. Not sure if I can wait until April or later though. I don't see any Canadian dealers taking pre-orders yet either.

I plan to buy a printer this summer and was set on the i9900, but now I believe I will purchase this new Epson.

I was torn between the R800 and the i9900 myself, and had pretty much decided on the i9900 for the print size. I have just really started the research process; I think I will wait for some more news on this one. It really sounds like the perfect printer.

Eventually I expect you'll see the extra colours and the gloss optimizer spill over into their even larger formats.

I can't find any reference to the R1800 on the Epson website. That's just plain weird.

True. And most other websites reference the article at Digital Imaging.
But I did notice the inks for the R800 on B&H's site say they are for the R800 AND the R1800. |

I just emailed a couple of big vendors here in Canada to see if they have any info on price, availability, and pre-ordering. When I get something back I'll post the info for those who are interested.

How and where do you trade in your old photo gear for new? |

Cool! Looks like it's a cross between the r800 and 2200, which is what I was waiting for. The price is cheaper than the 2200, also. I couldn't find anything on the Epson site either.

Finally showed up on Epson's web site. Hope to see some availability from merchants soon...

I heard from Camera Canada today. The R1800 is supposed to ship in Canada within a month. They'll have it for around $675 CAD and they are taking pre-orders. I may hold out for one instead of the Canon i9900.
