I want to get a reallllllllllllly cheap flash that will work on the 20D. I need something soon...so the new speedflash will have to wait. But for now, I just want something that will work for a few shots.

You could check this thread.
Edit: Lol - read flash and interpreted as flash memory. Disregard please :-)

For a little over a hundred you can get a Canon 220EX Speedlite dedicated flash.
For a little under a hundred you may be able to find the Sigma EF-500 ST TTL dedicated canon mount flash. I have one for my Nikon and it works good.
I don't think there are many less expensive dedicated flashes out thre, but you may be able to find these models a little cheaper. I think Metz has one for about $115 or 120.
Then again you could always go for one of the little Sunpak non-dedicated flashes. I think they are about $35, but you get what you pay for.

I don't think that you would do any justice to your pictures with a "cheap" flash. I'm assuming that the flash on the 20D isn't enough. If it is I would stay with that until you can get a better flash like the 580EX. I personally have the 420EX and I picked that up for $170. I like it alot, but the 580EX is more suited for the 20D. |

I havce a quantarray QBSZ-370 i got off ebay for $20 last year.
Swivel
bounce
Zoom
3 power settings - manual and 2 modes that read ambient light - but basically simple.
canon's need under 6 Vdc to be safe - mine measures 6.7 vdc...i am taking a slight chance using it i suppose, but i have it...
It works GREAT!

are two shots i used it on.
With a little practice you can get the setting right. In manual mode on the camera, as well at Av and Tv the flash fires every time the shutter is pressed.
When i get around to having the funds, a Sigma 500DG Super is on the list - a bit uner $200.
I have not looked at Metz or the bigger/better quantarray dedicated flashes.
