Just out of curiousity, when you are shooting in RAW mode on the 20D, how fast does the picture popup on the LCD compared to the 10D?

Also, on the 20D is the viewfinder much larger and easier to see through than the 10D?

And one last thing, would you consider the 20D a professional line dslr?

Thanks!
Eric

I can't speak to the first two questions but Canon doesn't consider the 20D a pro grade body. In digital only the 1D and 1Ds lines are professional grade (which includes weather seals, inclusion in CPS once you meet certain criteria, etc). The 20D, 10D, 300D, D60 and D30 are all considered by Canon to be consumer grade with the appropriate tolerances on performance in comparison with their more robust siblings.

I had a 10D and upgraded when the 20D appeared. I never did a direct comparrision, but thinking back .....

1) Picture probably does pop up faster, but I can't say it was something that struck me when I upgraded.

2) I didn't notice either one was easier to view than the other particularly.

3) It comes close to professional and would you could certainly use it as one. However, it had not got the build as say the 1Ds (and Mk II) or even the 1D MkII.

However, one thing I will mention. I upgraded having read reviews and the specs of the 10D vs 20D. I thought it would be worth it (especially as I managed to sell the 10D for what I bought it for).

However when I got the 20D .... I found the difference in the feel, usability, and features was actually better than I thought it was going to be. The extra Mp also helps, although that alone would not have made me upgrade. I have never regretted upograding for a moment.

Just a 300D owner here so can't comment, however, and just a thought, most people seem to place the 20D above the 10D in most (if not all) areas so why then was it not called the 5D?

*edited to say*

Can't wait for the 3D to come out!

Because that is not how Canon has traditionally numbered their cameras.

The pro grade cameras are single digit. When they make an improvement on a line the # usually goes up. The replacement for the 300D will be the 350D, ect...

Thanks for a swift reply but don't you find that confusing?Including the pro cams imo (going up in specs) you now have the 300D 10D, 20D then 1D, it just doesn't add up???

oops, looks like I've hijacked the thread - my apologies?

I didn't say it wasn't confusing, but once you understand how they do it then it is much easier to follow. The Canon SLR line is numbered likewise and Nikon's number system is also similar.
