I really liked the photo I took for the pink challenge, but as voting started it open up as a 4. The whole next day it stayed at abut a 4.5. I was really disappointed since I thought it was pretty good. Well the second day it started to go up, it is now about a 5.2 and the nicest compliment I got was it was picked twice for favorites. I have only had one other photo picked for a favorite so to have one picked twice is very exciting to me. Thanks

I had a very similar experience with the Road Sign challenge. I was pretty disapointed with the scores, which were pretty consistent, starting at a 5.6 and declining to a respectable (but not outstanding) 5.3. I certainly understand the reason it didn't score well, and the image could be seen as one "forbidden subjects" that we have on DPC, so I accepted the risk in entering it. On the last day of voting, I got at super-nice compliment, and the complimentor (if that's a word) suggested that they'd like to see it in the top 3! That really erased a huge percent of the disapointment. I PM'd the person profusely thanking them.

I have 17 photos selected by other users as their favs! 3 people see me as a fav! Feels great doesn't it?

Congrats Puma!
I felt the same about my entry for Best of 2004. I was happy with the ranking (56th place, around top 10 percentile) but happiest about many of the comments and a couple of people marking it as a Favourite.
I recently reached a personal milestone of 50 of my images selected as Favourites. Laurie recently made that 51 when she added Tomboy to her list.
It's a wonderful feeling and, as you said, an extremely nice compliment.
