Hi all,
I'm a little shy and hope that this question is okay to ask. I have taken some shots of a male nude model and they're done in an artistic way (well I think so anyway!)
One of the shots, he has an erection but I would definitely say it's an artistic shot than pornography. Am I allowed to post? Thought I'd ask first rather than offend!

Hey Nicola, I believe there's stuff about this in the DPC rules and guidelines. Check those out first :-) |

Is this a put-on? Look at the name of the originator of this thread... In any case, I think there's NO question that an erection is verboten, artistic or otherwise.

No, it's not a put-on, it's just that I enjoy capturing the male form just like men like capturing the female form - simple as that.
I gave myself that name because I feel that there is credibility in taking the shots I do but as long as photography is male-dominated and that there's the possibilty of one being bigger than theirs then I guess us women will continually fight a losing battle!
I shall now step off my soap box!

I'm not a man, but isn't an erection the result of being sexually stimulated? How can that not be in a way pornographic?

In agreement with you there Wendy but isn't an erection there to be able to reproduce? One of the most natural things one could capture?

If a guy is walking along, minding his own business, and suddenly spots a 1Ds MkII in a shop window with 75% off the price ........
Yes, he may get, for want of a better term, a stiffy ....... but I do not think I would consider that sexually stimulated ;)

That's *one* function.. yes... but certainly not the only one.
Fact of the matter is, there are a far-range of attitudes, ideas, beliefs, and "moral" standards in humanity, and your feelings are just one of those many. As it stands right now, erections are, probably, not going to be allowed to be posted in the forums here. (You might be able to get around it by just posting said photos in your portfolio, but I'd contact the SC or admins first) Arguing your case, while perfectly acceptable, won't change that fact. So, just do another shoot, or just include the photos of the male in a more "relaxed" state, as you will, and continue your search for a more acceptable community for the erect photos.
