yea, right.
I just thought that it was funny how many photos there were with roses, flowers in general, or lips.
A lot of the flower/lip shots were really good, but there were so many!

And enough with the mister already! I declare a fatwa on all misters! Some of those flowers were drowned on dry land. One spritz is enough people don't use the bloody garden hose! |

So close to Valentines Day so flowers would be expected. |

Hard to imagine a "pink" challenge NOT being flower-saturated; they are the most obviously photogenic examples of pink you can find, and flowers tend to do well in challenges, so...

Yeah....boring. That's why if you look at the site favorites page for today (2/8/05) you won't see any flowers:
Posies Galore!
Edit to say: Perhaps I should have referred you here:

I disagree, and not only because I'm a girl. I like all types of photos and I don't discriminate against car photos or other very masculine shots. I do have a flower photo in the current challenge, and I did expect there to be quite a few, therefore my shot is very original and like none of the others... but I'm being punished just the same.

Looking at the DPC frontpage right now there are:
1. Floral = 1/3
2. Landscapes = 1/3
3. Architecture = 1/3
What does this tell us? |

I went a little further than Guroos last night, and took a look at the last 8 challenges (leaving out arcitecture and candids for obvious reasons) and sorted the top 10 in each. This is what I came up with:
Landscapes and atmospherics: 21
Architecture: 13
People: 13
Flowers: 9
"Product shots": 8
Macros: 4
Birds: 3
These were 7 categories I'd thought would have the most. This totals 71 of the 80 top-10's, leaving 9 "uncategorized."
Not as many flowers as I expected by a long shot. Nor as many macros.
Best of 2004 and Light accounted for 12 of the 21 landscape/atmospheric shots. Old and New accounted for 8 of the 13 architectural shots. Only "people shots" were present in the top 10 of all 8 challenges recorded.
There were NO flowers in top 10 of Best of 2004.
