Three from a shoot this morning, two playing with duotones and one in subtle color.

Hi Bear,
Nice pictures. I loved the first one. It has an indefinable something. I wonder if removing some of the spots in the water will enhance the photo.
I just fooled around with your second photo...just some channel mixer adjustments in layers. What do you think?
The third photo is nice too, but i would like to see the complete color too. :)
Just my thoughts.

The images are as yet minimally processed. The first may very well see the spots on the water removed, yes. The first and the second, which you played with, sre shown in duotone versions. Your adaptation of ther second is attractive, and is likely the direction I would go in if I continue with duotone presntation.
The third image IS the complete color. Indeed, the blue/cyan and the yellow/red have been bumped a little in saturation. There is very little visible color in this scene at this time of year, it's a bleak midwinter here. So subtle color, which I love anyway, is the order of the day.

I like the composition on the third shot. Not very usual and ofcouse not seen much on dpchallenge. I wish you could get some clouds in the skly to compliment. Nicely done. |

Left some comments on the images before reading the whole thread. I see now that you weren't done processing the first. That's my fav of the set.

Adding the following, a square crop from a horizontal version of the earlier, similar example. The processing on this one is much closer to what I want it to be.

Out of your first 3 images, I like the one in the middle the best. It draws your eyes into it with the lines that are created by the ice. I think a little more contrast might help it some.
As for the last 2 you posted. I really like the B&W version the best. It has a good tonal range and the composition is pleasing. It again draws you into the image by way of the water.
Don't get to discouraged if there aren't many comments comming in. Sometimes people just aren't too talkative. =) |

Left you comments on all of them, but I'm still waiting for your comment on my pink entry ;-)
No, seriously, these are all great pictures. I prefered the colors version though. I think it added more to the feeling of the place.
