I want a fast sharp wide 24mm prime for my D70.

The decision is between;
The small, light, 52mm filtersize, Nikkor 24mm f2.8D and the
Big, heavy, 77mm filtersize Sigma 24mm f1.8 EX DG Asf Macro.

I don't mind the weight, size and filtersize, just:

- Is the Sigma as sharp as the Nikkor at f2.8 and upwards to f22?
- Is the Sigma as good with color and contrast as the Nikkor (important)?
- Will the Sigma work with Nikon I-TTL flash?
- f2.8 is fine with me in this case, but how is the Sigma at f2 and f1.8
- I read that the Nikkor is less prone to flare, ghosting, and chromatic abberations (important)
- How is the build quality of the Sigma vs the Nikkor. I have the Nikkor 50mm f1.4D and if the 24 is build like that I am satisfied. Metal mount is favourable.
- I have a 55mm polarizing filter with a 52-55 step-up and I am not planning to get a 77mm polarizer soon (I have another 77mm filter lens though)

If I don't gain anything regarding sharpness from f2.8, contrast and color I'd rather go with the Nikkor. The "Macro" of the Sigma is of no importance to me. I know of Björn Rorselett, Ken Rockwell and Fred Miranda user reviews. Just interested in your opinion.

Anyone?
Some experience with either lens?
