Over the course of the day I dropped 0.3 but I'm pretty happy with this score. Hoping to stay in the 6 range. Crossing fingers.

That's fine, just make sure you do a heavy hue/sat adjustment layer so the blood looks nice and pink :)

Not too shabby a score, dropped a bit, but as long as I keep the 6+ I'll be happy!

Does it seem like there are a lot of high-key bright, bright white background shots?

My pink just picked up as a favorite... made my day. On that note, time for bed.

That may have been an effect in some cases caused by the process of many of the entries to change and lighten a color to make it appear to be pink.

And I've gotten sixty votes in which puts me at 22% so now I can say that I voted on what I considered the best images of the challenge and can feel free to ignore PINK until the votes are tallied.

Well, it looks like my idea of pink wasn't quite right. When I looked at the other entries, I realised that mine wasn't quite pinky pink. Ah well, first challenge, 120ish votes and ~4.2 - you live and learn ;-)

You only vote on the best images? Am I interpreting this correctly? I wonder how many others vote this way? Unbelievable.

Russel,

Very few of the voters have the time or inclination to vote 100% of the images in a challenge. Would you prefer that they vote whichever random images are tossed at them when they have time, or wade through the thumbs selecting appealing-looking ones on which to vote?

Voting on what they perceive as "the best images" at least means these samples of the potential-ribbon pool will get voted on. The random sampling system, on the other hand, presumalbly assures each image has an equal chance of being voted on, and levels the field in theory.

Which is better? I donno. I vote on every image in each challenge on which I vote at all, but it was a real struggle to wade through so much pink...

I don't think this is true. I always vote on 100% of every challenge on which I vote. Since I've joined the only challenge I've missed voting on is "3" and somehow that got by me.

Lots of people vote on 100% of the challenges upon which they vote.

I rarely vote on 100% of images in a given challenge anymore. But I believe that the time it takes to comb through the thumbnails looking for the top 20% can be better spent voting on more images, however mediocre or unappealing they are; the people who make these images are members/users too and deserve as much of my time as the photo gods. They are here for the same reason as most of us - to learn.

In this challenge, yes. Most challenges I vote in I try to vote 100% of the challenge, but this challenge IMO was very hard to look at. For the most part it sucked. And so as not to waste my time on out of focus, poorly composed orange and purple objects I tried to concentrate on the member images that I felt deserved my attention.

You have to remember, for me, this is my site and I am entitled to come here for whatever reasons I choose and vote in any manner I choose so long as I don't violate any rules. The rules state "for votes to count at least 20% of the challenge must be voted on". I voted on 22% which in this case I feel went 2% above and beyond the call of duty.

Do you ever get the impression at times that it really doesn't matter what you say... or how you say it...people are bound to misinterpret your intentions, regardless of how noble they may be??? This, in my opinion, could be one of those situations.

Just a thought,

Ray

Why do you have to be so cocky, Ray? Are you trying to put us all down?

I'm used to it. I have a very straight foreward and gruff manner in the way I express myself in writing at times and it often offends the thin skinned. I also feel that perhaps I don't express my thoughts as clearly as I could. It really doesn't matter. I would expect no different from a blog.

Sorry if I offended you. It is totally your perogative how you choose to vote. You're right you are not breaking any rules. And I certainly wasn't trying to influence how anyone votes. Just hope I was in the top 20% for you. ;)

Not offended, just needed to explain myself more clearly. As far as you being in the top 20%, aren't you always?
