I am also watching my photo drop in score, it started out close to 10 and its just sank lower and lower and lower!... Its one of the best shots I have taken, if not The Best. I don't think it would breach rules to say my shot is floral since 75% of them are floral. I really planned this one out, I looked at lots of dpc winning floral shots, worked all week on it.. as soon as I saw alllll those floral shots I knew it was going to suffer.. I've had the pleasure of placing in the Top 20 in 4 of the last 7 challenges, but its like always being a bridesmaid and never a bride!!! hehe

Good Luck Everyone

well hey- you're doing better than me. I'm *bombing* at around 5.0, and though I've taken several pictures below that, I was pretty happy with this one and from what I've seen there aren't many like it. Maybe it's *too* different? I don't know. I hereby give up on ever trying to predict how my pictures will do...

I should had save the pink shot for the pain challenge. Maybe I should start staying inside the box,I seem to do well when I do. Naaaa...

My pink is VERY different, so I expected it to score low. I have not been disappointed since it is currently 4.08.

I am hoping for a few to see what I saw in it and comment. Sometimes it is fun to pick something WAY out of the box. I truly see this one as wierd art, so it works for me regardless. Good luck all.

I'm astonished at how many people seem to think orange is a shade of pink, and the surprising number of entries where "pink" is just one of many colors in the image, sometimes not even particularly prominent. I have no problem with desaturated images where pink is the only color, even if there's only a little of it, but in a lot of these the pink seems like an afterthought, or not even there at all, whereas another color altogether seems to be the dominant hue.

Or is it just me?

Well my scores started out at around 7 and has sank to a 4.9! Well one good thing came out of this...my facial expression right now would win the pain challenge LOL!

I don't think it's just you. There are a number of pictures that have pink in them, and are quite nice pictures in their own right, but pink is certainly not the dominant color.

I think that the oranges (and peaches--um--both colors, neither fruits) may be the result of differently calibrated monitors. (I'd like to give people the benefit of the doubt of knowing what pink is, so would like to think that it's not their fault, but then again, I have known two unrelated individuals who insisted on referring to flourescent yellow as "green.")

It's not just you. I thought I had a problem with my monitor!

I really don't think monitor calibration can account for this discrepancy. Anyone whose monitor was so far off that they saw orange as a valid pink would have to be complaining about the hideous, unnatural look of all correctly-calibrated images, right? And everything they had ever posted would have gotten a slew of comments on how poor the colors were?

I donno....

I know when I started on this thing I was producing pale magenta, and realized that "true" pink was a much warmer color than that. so asjusted... But ORANGE? Sigh....

This is my first entry, this bit is the worst. Quite happy so far though.

I hope my pink is pink (looks pink on 3 different monitors).

Do I get a prize for mentioning pink so many times, lol.

4.76?? That is taking the ****.
Well, I'm happy that my photo is good quality... the more photos I seem to submit here, the worse they do. I don't think I'm becoming worse, I think I'm leaving the mainstream.

I am around 5.3

I guess I should have submitted one of my other images...

Who is going to start an "outtake" thread?

Don't be fooled, it's going down fast. Almost 0.2 in the last hour. I'll be happy if it stays above my average.

Out-take of a totally different subject:

This was probably my best option for a pink entry...only it was taken a couple of weeks ago.

My only hope is that it will improve with more votes!

You know, I'm convinced that my photography is improving but I absolutely suck at these challenges!!

I think I'm kind of colourblind which might not help...I'm waiting for some comments because I'm thinking they might say "Uh...dude, that's not pink"!

oooooohhhh I LOOOOOOVE this challenge!! So many great shots of Flamingos!! My favorite bird in the whole world!!!

Well, my photo is in a pretty good place. Well, no... it's a great place right now. But I don't wanna say anything that will make it drop ;-)
I also have some wonderful outtakes (IMO anyway) but although they are so very different then my actual submition, they could in a way sell that one out. So i'll patiently wait... I'll try not to ruin the update button for ya though

Would love to get a comment on my photo so I can see what people don't like about it. The only thing I can think of is the DOF. Right now I am at a 4.8 just came down from a 4.9 which is better then before when it was a 4.0

I wasn't going to enter, but just couldn't resist a color based challenge.

Was around 6.2 after the first 30 votes, and I was pretty happy about that. Just before going to bed, I had a huge drop as my first 1 must have come in. ;) Now down to my average, which is ok, but still dropping.

One comment from someone who is very well respected on this site saying it is a great shot which lifted me.

The other comment says it's not pink enough! Er, I was trying to be subtle. Just 'cos it's not a pink object with a pink background shot with a pink camera by a 'flamboyent' photographer, doesn't mean it doesn't meet the challenge :)

I too did a less is more approach to the pink...it is suffering..ah well.. I like the shot
