Picture quality differences...not many. See this: //www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos300d/page18.asp

Out of the box the feature set on the 10D is more comprehensive. However, with a certain `firmware` update you can flash the 300D so most of the 10Ds features are unlocked on the rebel, very handy if you want ISO-3200 (too grainy to be of any practical use) but more importantly it unlocks the FEC which is very useful. As mentioned above, the body is made of plastic (although still pretty rugged) and for a while was only sold in a silver style body, although Canon have now released the black bodied version as well.
A plus point is that the 300D will accept the new range of EF-S lenses which I believe the 10D does not, and more of these are to appear in the future (EF-S-L anybody?). I was in 2 minds whether to go for the 300D or the 10D, in the end I went for the 300D and bought myself a sigma DG E-TTL Super flashgun (the equivalent of the 550ex, but half the price). So glad I made the decision.
When it comes to image quality on the 10D v 300D then it is purely lens dependent since they use the same sensor and DIGIC processor. Sharpening on the 300D is slightly higher that the 10 but this can be changed in the options.
10D is slightly faster in continuous.

Sorry about the rather random way the differences are listed, I just typed them as I remembered them.

why is the 10D discontinued?

Because the 20D replaced it.

will these 3 lenses work with with either a 10d or a 20d?

everyone forgot the most obvious and significant difference.

The 300D is silver and therefore an Amateur camera, 10D is BADASS Black and therefore a PRO camera.

HAHAHAHAHAHA
