Maybe a new idea for a challenge, LOL.
Seriously, these damn mobile phone camera things are going to have bad repercussions on the rights of serious photographers. |

wouldn't worry about it, no serious photographer would use a phone camera :)

Think it would fit the pain challenge quite nicely - and Lewisham is just 20 minutes from here :-) |

I think you've missed my point... mobile phone cameras have raised privacy and security concerns that will impact on ALL photographers. |

As the expression goes.."you can make somthing of a scotsman.. provided you catch it young". Just wondering how young do they want them to be caught;-)

The kids aren't scottish - it's just a scottish paper. I'd have thought slapping strangers for no reason might be some kind of religious observance in Scotland ...

Hi BobsterLobster
I was joking (sarcasm lost)
I hope there are no repercussions on normal photography, and i do not expect them to happen as the difference between 'intrusive' photography (paparazzi) has been percent for a ling time before camera phones came about and up to now we still can enjoy certain freedoms (except when a cops decide to abuse their power //www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=169255 )
How ever with the rightwing wave that has occurred since 9/11 it would not surprise me if further restrictions on our freedoms came about
cheers

I wasn't quite sure about the tone of your smilie!
But, I think it's the 'won't anybody think of the children' brigade that will have a heavy influence on photographers' rights as a result of mobile phones. |

I can see the risk, but when I read that article my imagination pretty much stopped outside the ranks of children. Can you honestly project this scenario to a serious SLR-toting photographer?
Young man approaches innocent subject while photographer wearing fully loaded vest and photo backpack captures the action in the dim subway using a 200/f2 with image stabilization technology onto a 22mp camera and carbon fiber tripod so the gang can hang lightjet prints on streets and avoid the sticky residue of obsolete graffiti.
I'm sure it raises some risk, but in general I think there's a social boundary between people toting camera phones / small digicams and people who carry the persona of a serious photographer. Maybe I'm too optimistic.
