what does USM stand for? do I have such a tool in GIMP?

un sharpen mask usm i dont have the gimp but have heard that there has been great improvment over the years im almost positiver that it has a usm tool. Kevin

USM = Unsharp Mask.

The name is a misnomer. It's actually is a way to better control the sharpness of a picture, then the auto sharpness.

it is under Filters/enhance/unsharp mask
in the Gimp
it does have a problem though that you cant leave the preview box checked while you make your modifications or it will freeze. Make your modifications then hit preview.
