I am wanting to put together a "studio" in my garage, what I actually want is a desent place to snap some shots. macros, portraits, ect. What do I need to get some good light, also what is the best thing to use for a background. (budget, cheap as possible as always)

I'm pretty sure there are some old forum threads on this subject - but halogen work lights are usually pretty cheap at Lowes or Home Depot (but very hot) and foam core board available at many art supply places is very cheap. The bargain bin at a fabric store can give you a lucky find - but even at full price you can probably find some halfway decent fabric ($2-3 a yard).
