Took this a day late for the 'light' challenge. I wanted to see how you think it would of done and hear your comments.

I love stained glass windows, and was actually just giving some thought to starting a church window photo project. This one is wonderful! I think I would have cropped close around the window to focus on it more. I would have left the bottom part of the building out all together, but that's just my opinion.
The colors are great, but because I think the composition could be more interesting, I would probably have given it a 5. |

To be honest, the challenge is already jammed up with stained glass, candles and feathers. Think outside the box - or inside the box if you can do it in a very novel way.

I sort of agree with nbsca7 (though I haven't gone through all the voting yet). I spent awhile in the cold one night taking photos of trees lit from the bottom and had a good one with a car's tail light streaking by, but didn't enter it in the end because I knew there'd be other streaky taillights (and I was away from the computer as the dealine approached).
The big crop photo might fall into the category of a photo of an existing artwork and thus be liable for disqualifation; so I would have included the bottom of the building if it was a photo I was entering into a challenge.. |

Thinking outside the box is resulting in a 4.7 so far. If you want to excel here, you really have to narrow your vision to the most obvious of challenge subjects.

What is your definition of the word excel?

That may part of it however then you have to do a great job of it. I seem to have the obvious part, and yes I plan to do a pink flamingo or a flower for the next one, but the exelence in execution is what I seem to lack. Does seem to make a difference.

Just out of curiosity, and i don't mean to offend you or anything, why did you take this picture? I really would like to know, please. |

For several reasons.
1. I worked in the drafting department of the steal firm hired to construct the frame for this stained glass. So I had ties to it.
2. I liked the different colors and random placement.
3. It also represents with my faith so it was appealing to me.

I like the first one better than the cropped one.
