Some research work about automatic removal of bits from pictures - like automatic cloning. Pretty clever stuff!

I wonder how long it will be before this finds it's way into off the shelf products. |

This is already available in Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10, You use a tool like the lasso in PS to trace around what you want removed, click a button and poof...gone
It doesn't always render the background where the object was removed 100% correct but enough to spot clone or blend. Other times it is spot on.
I have used this tool many times in stock photos to remove unwanted objects.

Thanks for the info. I'm curious, I'll have to take a look. I think there is a trial version to play with :)

This shot here used to have 4 people in it (sorry used the small version for our dial-up users).
It took about 5 minutes to get rid of them with MS Digital Image Pro 9...to be honest I have Elements 2 and 3 (came with cameras) here at home and never used either. The MS product does all the same things as the elements packages and more but the terminology is dumbed down for those who want to get right in and clean up photos. |
