Here are a couple of other pictures I took using a similar technique as my picture in the "Breaking New Ground" Challenge.
Here is the picture I submitted. The technique is described in the details section.
Here is a shot I used using a ciggarette. I removed the cover and glued it around a hollow straw. I painted it with varnish to make it impermeable to water. I fed 2 "butterfly " needles into the hollow ciggarette and and connected them to syringes with red and blue food coloring. Lowered into the aquarium and slowly injected the food coloring.
Here I taped three "butterfly" needles to the backs of wooden matches. Glued the Matches to a wooden support and connected the syringes with the food coloring. etc.
I ultimately decided to use the candle variation in the contest. I felt that one came out the best. |

A very ingenious setup and wonderful photograph too. Just curious what size length and gauge butterfly needle did you use? Must have been a long one to perforate the candle from the bottom. Also, the tubing looks to be pretty long. Are these needles specialized to dentisty? |
