Got my 300D kit yesterday, still reading the manual and looking at the different menus.

Black 300D with battery grip, EF-S 18-55mm USM, 1Gb Cf card, UV filter and USB2 Card Reader...£823.

Now gotta save for lenses and flash

Here's a shot of it.

That black looks awesome.

Now get on the other side of the camera and show us some photos. :)

That's the first black 300D that I've seen, and I must say that Canon was very smart to release a black version of this very capable and popular camera.

Congratulations on your new camera! Get out there and put it to good use.

Thanks guys, I intend getting out next weekend to try it out.

Also, forgot to include that £100 cashback offer...not bad for £723!!

Not bad at all!
(That's $1,362.85 USD for the conversion rate impaired like me.)
I suppose that includes taxes as well....lucky you!

The conversion rate means nothing for digital cameras and accessories because they are so much more expensive in the UK. Put it this way:

When the 20D first came out I could have sold my 300D in England second hand, and be able to afford a 20D imported from America with that money!

The price still seems good to me. A little over a year ago I bought the 300D with kit lens for $1,000 plus 8% sales tax. The memory card was extra. (Since then I've added another lens, lens hood, filters, extra battery, portable hard drive for long trips, a new camera bag, a tripod, monopod, a card reader and a variety of other things.) If it weren't for holidays, birthday and a generous and understanding husband I'd still be using the Nikon Coolpix from work. :-)

In black it looks like a totally different camera. Can't believe how great it looks. Congrats.

Where were the black ones when I bought mine? I ended up with this festive silver looking thing.

Well, after just 50 shots, my 300D has fallen apart!!

The metal frame that holds the screen in, has fallen out along with the focusing screen!

Taking it back on Saturday to exchange it...will keep you posted.
