The latest speed challenge: THREE details indicate anything related to the number three.

As some of you have noticed lately, I am purposely pushing the limits of the voter. I do not really have my heart set on winning a ribbon right now, I am trying to see if I can get people to take notice of how some shots fit the challenge and still get 'doesn't fit' comments.

I suggest that if you have 'not gotten' the relationship for the challenge, that you go back and count. I purposely entered a shot that not only blatatnly qualifies in both title and subject, but does so subtly in order to prove that people don't take long enough to look at entries.

So far 2/3 comments on my shot have failed to see the obvious relationship to 3 and I challenge you to revisit the shots you have commented on just to determine if you forgot to count something.

What you fail to realize here is people just don't look at the images on here for any length of time - and to be honest why should they?

If your image is brilliant - people will look more, longer, and more carefully - then they are also more likely to try to find the connection to the challenge if it's no obvious.

On the other hand, if your image 'sucks' then people are not going to take ages to look at it.

DPC by it's nature is about winning a ribbon - nothing more nothing less. And it's voters are like Art Directors, you only get a few seconds to impress, and competition for attention is large, fact of life - look at the amount of submissions now - and currently 4 challenges worth of images to look / critique and comment on.
It's bam bam bam score score score.

I think if people really want their images to be looked at in detail, they should either A) Be very good, or B) post them somewhere else.

I learned this over time :D

(Now I want to go find your image!)

I'm with Jon on this one ... you could have just asked, I would have told you people don't take more than a few seconds on each picture :)

Alrighty then, I think the right brainer's will get it immediately...others will really have to look at all aspects of the picture...some won't get it at all.

Lol.

Like I said, I am not shooting for the ribbon, but I will tell you I think the image itself is well enough done to have people take notice of it.

I expect a 4-5 end score based on the irresponsible nature of some voters to glance, make a quick judgement and respond with a low score based only on challenge.

I am challenging those people to stop a second on any image, count what they see and determine if a 3 is related to the image. I am also purposely not giving any other information about my image as I do not want to bias the expected outcome.

I already know that most people have to be hit over the head to see the obvious. I'm just trying to see if there are people out there who can be taught to see beyond the box. ;-)

Do you somehow have an inside track to my image aw?

I have to say that I am amused by people to think they are showing how smart they are buy being so subtle in there interoperation of the challenge that is it a task to see how it meets it. Sorry I don’t buy it, photography is in part about communicating and if your photos does a bad job of that then it does not deserve to get a high score. But don’t blame the “ignorant” votes for you questionable entry.

If you get a kick of out seeing how cleaver you can be then fine but don’t whine about the votes.

With the experience of 43 challenges behind me and a current average of 5.7 I can say that I learnt some time ago that subtlety doesn't pay. To get anywhere on DPC you have a maximum of 2 seconds to hit the voter between the eyes. If you can't do that then forget it.

Asking voters to stop and think is like King Canute commanding the waves of the sea to go back - it ain't gonna happen.

The ONLY images which I stop for any length of time on are the ones I think I can help to explain why they are bad, and the 'WOW' images. Everything else gets 2 seconds - vote - move on.

My friendly challenge to you Arcanist is make me stop, get me to dwell on your image. I have given you the criteria you need to make it happen. I hope its not for the first reason ;-)

AW, you hit it on the head.

Falc, I believe already that if you come upon my image, you will readily see the link to 3, if not, I believe the image is well done enough that you will stop long enough to ponder it.

I will state again for anyone thinking this is a rant about votes. I really am not concerned about the low or high votes. My end score is already set at 4.5-5 due to DPC nature.

The challenge I have issued with my image is to see how many will see the 3 or just pass on by, missing what really is obvious.

I think we all do now Arc! It's the one where the relationship to 3 is obvious, blatent and subtle. I haven't started voting Three yet but when I do I'll be on the lookout for it. And if I can figure out which one it is I'll be sure to count. :-)

In all seriously, Good Luck. And I'll be looking for your shot after the challenge is over.

I have seen a couple of photo for three that were very subtle to the challenge, and I like them a great deal. I almost put a comment on one that I hope the others get it but did not. I will have to go back and see if I can not find that photo and add that comment.
