Hi Folks,

I have installed the firmware hack to allow for custom functions on my 300D with the main motivation for voiding my warranty being FEC. ISO3200 and most of all continuous focus in the "creative" modes.

I find that although I can force it into continuous focus, the camera still waits until it thinks it is in focus before it will let me hit the shutter. I dont want it to do that because the usual reason for wanting continuous focus is that the subject is moving, and therefore getting the ideal focus point will change too often for the camera to allow me to actually fire the shot.

So in short, can I force the shot to be taken without the camera satisfying its fetish for the red dots to display? How have other users overcome this issue?

Cheers,
Groover.

the hack doesn't work for that :( i'm sad with you

i've read about buying a plug to stick in the shutter release hole which fools the camera into ai servo mode, but i don't know anything more than what i've just said

sport mode is ai servo, but it automatically sets the iso to 400

are you able to post some links about this plug?

Here you go.

AI Servo Hack

I personally wouldn't use it though. :)

still not a sure thing though. I guess we all just have to wait for Wasia... thanks for your help though.

In continuous focus mode, the camera will track whatever it focuses on, but it does have to achieve initial focus first. If you want to shoot without waiting for the camera to auto-focus, put it in manual focus mode and focus yourself. Not real easy, unfortunately, without a split-screen viewfinder.

haha continuous focus is the continous movement of my hand? I guess that will have to do. I suppose it isn't really that hard to do, primitive as it is.
