Are gradients allowed in basic editing? The effect I'm questioning is presumably using an adjustment layer, and overlaying a coloured gradient to give a rainbow effect over the original shot.

I read in another thread that they were illegal in Basic.

I asked this question late in 2004 and was told that they are not allowed in basic editing since the gradient does not affect the whole image in a uniform manner. They are not permitted in basic editing.

I never have been able to figure out how to effectively use those gradients. Any hints or suggestions?

If you find an image in any challenge that you feel breaks one or more rules for that challenge, please request a DQ against it so that the SC can investigate. And of course, always vote as though the image is legal...

There's no button for a DQ after a challenge is over.
