I need to rent a lens for a galla that is happening tomorrow. I'll be taking shots of groups of people in probably groups of 2-6. I will also be taking shots of 6 people on stage debating current issues. What would be the best lens to rent for this event?

For the pentax? what options do you have?
Consider: action will be slow, but light will be low, so a fast lens maybe a good thing. how cose can you get?
Generally speaking, i'd think a fast lens with a 28-135 range. For portraits you want a shot tele, and for the stage shots you need a bit more reach (maybe).
You could probably make do with a 50mm 1.8 or 1.4, but an 80mm would be better (for reach and portraits). Whether you can get those for an *istD i have no clue.
