Today, I was very lucky as a friend of mine is moving to California to become a programmer for google, and so he asked if I wanted his Novatron Strobe Equipment. Of course I took it off his hands, as I have no lighting what so ever. Here are a few problems/questions I have.

The Lights have to be from the 80's/Early 90's at best. its 4 strobes/modelling lights, 4 umbrellas, a Snoot, stands, and a powerpack.

My question is, I just checked my camera, and there is no where to plug the cord into my camera. How can I make these lights work with my DRebel? I really want to start trying these out. Any help is appreciated. I'm trying to get more info on the Strobes/Powerpack now, all I can say is its a novatron. Came with no manuals or anything, so im hoping someone out there can help!

I thought the 300D had a PC plug.

Well, if not, you can buy an adapter that slides into your hotshoe that either has a PC plug or you can get a RF/IR slave system.

make sure you get a "safe sync" adapter for the hotshoe as the 10D/300D is limited to 6V sync voltage. Some strobe units can be over 200V.

consider the voltage requirements of the strobes... before firing them off attached in any way to the camera. there was a recent horror story involving frying two canon cameras in about 10 minutes for neglecting to think.

link to Wein Safe Sync on B&H

This little gizmo handles supposedly handles voltage variations while giving you a place to connect your sync cord.
