Here are some more photos from my trip to Thailand back in October. What does everyone think? There are more in my portfolio if you are interested.

Okay, either:

1) Everyone thought these were going to be tsunami photos and were disappointed that they weren't.

2) You thought they were tsunami photos and didn't bother clicking the thread, because you are tired of tsunami photos.

3) You thought they would be hot, nude, Thai girls . . . and were disappointed.

4) The pictures just plain SUCK.

Which is it? The thread got 41 views, and one of the pictures only got 5 looks. Should I find a new hobby?

Thank you,

Mark

Well, I choose 5) none of the above!

I think they're great candid shots. I thought the selective desaturation in # 1 was a neat idea, but the orange was maybe just a bit TOO orange.

I love the character captured in #2.

I found #3 to be an interesting conflict. Accordions conjure up the sounds of polkas and happy music to me, but this guy looks incredibly bored!!! Also a neat candid.

I think maybe you didn't get many replies because there's a fair bit of discussion going on in other forums at the moment!

I really like the one of the Monk feeding the pigeons. The others are also great. So you really don't have to look for a new hobby because you have some nice stuff!

Ok fine.... I'll give you MY ten cents worth:
I thought "Ohhh.... Thailand, goodie!!!"

I expected to see wonderfully exotic photos that want to make me book a flight to go see it myself. Instead I found... black and white. AGAIN.

Why take away all the color? In my book, those photos would be so much more if they weren't in drab old black and white.

I just have too much of a problem with all the endless black and white (and yes, there ARE instances where black and white is better than color) to even really make it to studying the photos such as they are.

Not what you wanted to hear, huh? Sorry, but that's the way I feel.

Okay, I feel better now. Thank you. I did also consider that there was a lot else going on in the forums.

I debated on the B&W myself. Ninety-seven percent of my photos are in color (about the same percentage as Beetle). I decided to go B&W for these. The one time I decide to go B&W and I get lambasted for it. Sheesh.

Mark, I just checked out your other Thailand photos and I saw COLOR - Yippeeeeeeeee *g*

I especially like the one called "Floating markets, Thailand".
I love the hustle and bustle, the confusion. The hats are great, too!

Thank you Beetle. I was about to post a whole new thread just for you with some of my exotic color Thailand photos. But I guess I don't have to now. Well, they're not really that exotic. I was hoping to take some wonderfully exotic photos, but overall, I was disappointed in most of my Thailand pictures. Some of them are starting to grow on me though. The best ones were the one's I didn't take.

I do hope you had a great vacation over there.
After all, even if the photos aren't QUITE what you hoped for, they are more than adequate to keep your memories alive.
In my opinion, that is one of the best things about photography. I guess its also one of the reasons why I so often dislike b&w pics - thankfully the world is in living color and I like to keep it that way.

I did have a great vacation. And I do have a lot of pictures to keep the memory alive (most in color . . . actually they are all in color), even if they aren't all that great. Some of them are pretty good though, and I'll eventually add more to my portfolio.

Okay, I'm going to bed now.

Anyone else have any comments on these 3 pictures?

Thanks,

Mark
