just been thinking, new experience, in voting, is
there a point to handing out a 5?
surely it doesn't alter the score at all.

sure it does. if the average vote for an image is higher than 5, a vote of 5 lowers the score. if the average for ths shot is lower than 5, voting 5 raises the score.

Of course it will change the score.
say you have after 1 vote an average of 10.
then someone gives you a 5. The average is calculated as 10 + 5 / 2 votes = 7.500

Voting a 5 will almost always effect the score, unless the person ends up with a score of exactly 5. If the person is averaging in the low 4s a 5 will help, if they are averaging in the 6s a 5 will hurt.

Lastly a 5 says âIt is an ok photo but nothing to right home aboutâ

But you are right in that a vote of a 1 or 10 will have a lot more impact on the final score.

it will certainly bring up my score in the best of 2004 challenge!
