less (or no) flash would help the colors. dpc thumbs dont work on geocities hosted pix, so I can't help you.

Tough to make this better because the subject does not have lots of interest in it in the first place. Substitution of a real frog was the best suggestion you got.

That being said... Photographically speaking the background colors are bland an dull. saturating or otherwise enhacing colors would help.

The DOF is in that "iffy" area where it is either too much or not enough. Shallower DOF would work better. I vote for not enough.

In photography "as art" centering your subject like you did is not always the best way to display it. Placing the frog at one of the rule of thirds intersection points or lines would make it more artistically appealing.

These are just suggestions. I can be wrong, of course, and have been many times. :)

I'm imagining you sitting a few feet away and zooming in *snap* oh that was fun. What I mean is, it looks "snapshotty." The Frog has no interesting details, and being placed dead center doesn't help. As stdavidson suggested, put it off center, on a third line. I think the reason it looks better is because it's not how we normally see things. Try it out! Oh, and don't use a flash, if it's outside, then you may have enough light to handhold, I'm sure the IS can help you. Keep it up.
