One of the hardest things to photograph (to me) is the color silver. It easily grays out. The light never looks quite right even in the best of photos.

I think it's a good challenge.... I know right now I am working on that for a jewelry website and I am finding it hard to get it right! :)

I just did a jewelry website - didn't have any issues with photographing silver.

IMO it just doesn't have the luster and the spark of the real thing. It's more due to the limits of photography and the acuity of the human eye.
The same problem exists with gems. When I look at them under my 8X loupe in the sunlight photography doesn't even come close to matching their fire.
The best photo of a gem I've seen yet is an ad in this month's Oprah magazine for diamonds.

Hi Stephanie, maybe it's just because it's shrunk down a bit, but that image seems to suffer from the grayed out look as well...

Your website is fabulous! How did you get that photo on the home page? Looking forward to seeing your photos in the competitions. If they pick "silver" I bet you'll be ready. :-)

Thanks!

Which photo, the self portrait? I just set my camera up on a table top and set it to the timer mode. Did my own makeup...nothing special. It was just for fun....

If that's not the photo you meant, then which one....?
