I just got an email from a client. She went up one side of what's wrong with us and down the other. She said:
1) "You demonstrated a lack of interest in your work by saying that hand-coloring a photograph is too time consuming for you." (What I said was that it's more accurate, easier to change, and able to be done on multiple proofs with digital so I preferred not to "paint on a picture."
2) We are unprofessional because we send our prints out to be "professionally printed" because that means we are not professional enough to "develop your film" ourselves. We don't USE film, lady!
3) She was "concerned about our lack of education" because we did not study art in college and do not have BFA or MFA's. I told her I learned from a local pro (Gene Gissin is a professor at my college) and had been shooting for a few years (not weddings). Ouch.
So, I'm uninterested, unprofessional and uneducated. What a day! I SUCK!

No, she interviewed us to do her wedding. That was the email she sent me to say "no thanks."
She GUSHED that she loved our work beforehand. Yet my lack of taking a few classes ....

I know, I know...but we had 4 interviews in 4 days and they didn't go so great. The first went normal - it was good. We'd booked 5 straight interviews and that one is still in the air, so maybe. That's good. The second - well the guy grunted a few times, the girl asked some really strange stuff and they didn't seem overjoyed. The third was an older couple who acted like they were already married. They didn't say much, looked confused the ENTIRE time... and that was the fourth - she asked us "how would you shoot a picture of me and my 9 bridesmaids."

Maybe we can change the category "Favorite Photographers" to "My Favorite Artists." Then you can claim multiple MFA's in your credits ... |

ha yeah. Not that I wanted this client after our meeting, but I wonder if she'd have chosen us if I simply answered the question "where did you go to school" with "Syracuse University" instead of explaining myself.
I mean, does it matter where BradP studied art? Or maybe Gordon isn't in NG yet because he didn't get his MFA at Hahvahd?

I would reply that
1) Her displayed lack of interest in her marriage by not building her own husband
and
2) her cold-heartedness exemplified by not photographing the wedding herself
as well as
3) her lack of marital experience because she declined to sleep with you
have led you to believe she would be unfit to photograph and that her application has been denied.
Good day!

Be glad this Bridezilla won't hire you. Who needs to work for someone like that - obviously her first and only opportunity to be "the boss" of something. First time bosses (even if it's boss of your own wedding) usually power trip. |

She sounds like a frikken snob. I really don't like people like that. You don't need these people for customers, they'll give you a bad name fast.

Tell her to kiss your grits.
I would write her back telling her with your background and experience you've never had a complaint, then wish her luck in her endeavors. Sometimes I just delete stuff like that but on occasion I fire off a polite Piss off response. |

Oh yea, here's a big P.S. anyone with NINE bridesmaids is obviously out of control. Feel free to turn down jobs like that, you don't need the stress even if you DO need the money.

For real - she has TWO Maids of Honor. She said "I don't even know what you call that!" I was thinking "excessive?"

Dear Uninterested, Unprofessional and Uneducated One,
to be labelled 'uneducated' would be credible if it came from someone who'd know the difference between 'uninterested' and 'disinterested'. To be labelled 'unprofessional' would be sensible if you were duly criticised for failing to aedequately perform or deliver in your area of specialization or 'profession' for the same reason a baker should not be criticized for refusing to mend your teeth. Neither can he (the baker) be faulted for failing to attend a dentists' convention (with respect to the alleged 'uninterest').
In other words, you likely have incited an uninformed interest in cup cakes or the love-life of bricks. No one can tell which. :-(

Oh this one has me laughing.
I have never studied it, (other than what was a requirement in High School some 30 plus years ago).
Guess I have no class huh?
Too funny!
Sorry about the hit below the belt on that interview process.

:)
You classless.......................*still thinking*..................uninterested..................sap!
Wait, that's me.

You're just un-everything. |
Unwilling - to do her wedding.
Uninterested - in her.
Unlikely - to say "I wouldn't hand paint a negative" in the near future.
Unable - to stop laughing at this 'zilla.
Unfortunate - to not have her date booked.
You're right!
I'm UNbelievable!
