i've always liked the poem "I never saw a moor, i never saw the see yet know i how the heather looks and what a wave must be. I never talked with God nor visited in heaven yet certian am I of the spot as if a map were given"(i never saw a moor)
i was just thinking it could make a hard but intrusting challenge the idea of which would be-
*Unseen
Photograph something that is not in your image but understood to be there. ie let your image speak of something elce a greater subject.
now i realzie that this challenge relies on the title of the shot and not just the shot but it was just a thought if u don't like it how about-
imperfection- Photograph something that clearly has 1 imperfection but other wise is fine. the shot itself my be usedd as the subject having improfection it the way it is framed, techniquely manged........so on and so forth.
let me know what ya'll think i always have good ideas but am really timid about speaking up so i though i would see how these went over and then i would know if i'm the only 1 this strange.
(note:not meaning to calling anyone who likes these ideas strange)

I think Brandon means the poem beginning "I never saw a moor" (in case anyone's confused). Interesting idea...

I Never Saw a Moor is the poem's title as well as it's opening line. It's by Emily Dickinson.
I like the poem and the idea for a challenge. But it is pretty wide open as to what could "fit the topic". Challenges that are rather vague like that can lead to a lot of arguement about what fits. I'd like it better if you made it a little more specific.
Imperfection is another good idea, but why allow a shortcoming in the image itself to be the topic? With that in the details it does not really limit the subject matter at all, just take a flawed picture of anything you want to. To me, it makes a better challenge without that proviso.
Challenges that are wide open, that leave a large latitude for interpretation, are not as challenging and lead to disagreements.

If people get their panties in a knot over a challenge titled "yellow" I have a feeling this would send people into seizures :-) |

250 comments about "what do you mean YELLOW? What is this new phenom you speak of??".
Throw in some poetry, a big of philosophy and you've got the makings for the world's longest "I don't get it" thread ever. |
