Not to steal any thunder from strangeghost, but I wanted to put my shots of the same objects in a sepeate thread (SC if you must I wont cry if you move it, or lock it)

Comet Macholz - Wide field

Just the moon

I bow before your superior skill!! :-)

Seriously dude, that comet shot rocks. Your polar alignment is spot on and your stars are beautiful pinpoints! Was that a single 10 minute exposure or a stack of shorter ones??

I love the picture of the moon - looks so close- all teh craters can be seen.
So crisp and clear.

well dont bow so quickly, you havent seen the 1,000's of astro photos I have taken that were trash. I took some 80 images last night and had 20 keepers (10 were of the moon). I just got lucky on a few images last night.

The wide field shot that was 10 minutes was a single exposure @ ISO 200. The processing I did was color balance and sharpening, not much else.

Also to make the tracking much better I just had my camera on the EQ mount. Plus at the lower focal length (100mm Vs 1180mm) helps out a lot also.
