I need help on deciding which one is better. |

I think it depends on what you are trying to convey? Looking at the thumbs the second got my interest most and was more interesting to my eye and I felt the same after looking at the larger images. A splash of colour in the flower bed would improve the interest of the shots imho. |

I prefer the second one.
The statue isn't exactly all that fascinating or beautiful; the second photo gives me some more to look at.
Plus I get a better idea of where it fits in in the grand scheme of things. |

I prefer the second one because even though the statue is nice the background is eyecatching as well. |

Second one has it for me too - better composition.

Define 'better'. It depends what you want the image for.
Neither one has 'better' composition, they have different compositions, which will give the viewer different feelings. If you want the image for a catalog, #1 would be the preferable shot. As art, the composition is too stable and offers no eyemovement, whereas #2 is more interesting - more to see. One wonders what's off frame to the right, as the statue appears to be 'looking' that way.
