One of my new year resolution is to participate more in order to learn more... so help me out here plz.
Here are the portraits taken indoor with window being the light source.
I dropped & broke my only lens while trying to attach it with extension tubes to take some macro eye shots :'(
I am feeling awfully sad without my camera until the lens gets fixed or I figure out a way to earn money for a new lens :(
So here I am with my clumsy work, waiting for your feedbacks. Thanks |

I like all of them. You have done a wonderful job with this series. And you know how I feel about the first one. It's exceptional. It's a masterpiece.
edit: typos!! GRR

Great shots Nonage. Sorry to hear about the lens.
BTW, maybe we can arrange a Newfoundland GTG sometime if you are still on the Rock. :)

Very nice! I like the soft focus. IN the first one, it looks kind of like The Girl With The Pearl Earring. Except that she doesn't have a pearl earring....
Nice painterly feel to many of these.

I like the ones where you cropped off half the face. It's an interesting approach to portraiture which I have not seen before.
Edit: Grammar.

dsidwell, Yup, it did remind me of girl with the pearl ear rings too :)
Xion, thank you for such encouraging remarks, it really means a lot to me. I would sure love to get your honest critique on other pictures to help me improve :)
Gloda, I am glad u liked my half cut portrait. I added the flowers digitally later on and changed the eye color to purple to match with the flowers ;)
I am wondering if its really too much tungsenten effect on first picture? Should I decrease the warm tone? Ok, how does this looks to u now?

In your revision of the excellent first image, you've perhaps struck a better balance of light. The first was arguably over-warmed. However, you've done it by pulling red out of the image and the lighter side of her face now feels slightly green. You need to get back into that one and make the color more neural where the greeen cast is showing up, I think. Overall, you're doing very well; these are soft and sweet and very "painterly" feeling.

Thank you so much bear_music. I have tried to take out the slight greenish hue on lighter side of face. Here is the revised version C
Does it look any better now? Its great that I can ask so many experts here for their opinions. There comes a time when I really can't pick problem areas in my pictures and feel stagnant.
I also wanna ask if the painterly effect is too much on the pictures ?Wondering if I am overdoing it just 'coz of my personal liking??

I really like the soft look you have added to this portrait. Superb Nonage. I know how you feel when it comes to picking your own work apart, I'm terrible judge of my own stuff.

I like both of the ones where only half of the face is showing. Especially the last one. Your model is gorgeous too.
