Woo hoo! Good job. I'll be getting the Canon 10D in roughly a month ... during Easter holidays. Just in time for Spring :) I already bought 3 lenses on E-Bay. lol

Good luck with your camera.

Jacques,

Please, please, say it isn't so. Have you really gone over to the dark side and joined the ranks of those other Canon users? I know that you were talking about it. But, we dismissed this chatter as simple amateur curiosity and figured that you would come around soon.

What about Nikon? What about the dream of being a real, honest-to-goodness Nikon owner? Was that all just talk? What about the promise offered by those vividly bright yellow and black logos with that wonderful italicises font - N I K O N
How could you resist? Have you lost all sense of reality?

And to think that you went with - CANON Ă¢€“ donĂ¢€™t you know that they are a Photocopier Company! Have you no shame? Ouch, ouch, ouch, it simply hurts too much.

Don't worry about me; I will be OK. Just this morning we were wondering why there was an amazing freak two-foot snowfall in just 24-hours in a small area covering just two towns and no snow anywhere else just 10 kilometers away. It must have been the great and powerful Nikon-gods punishing you for this horrendous offence. I wonder if the snow will last all summer on your house? Maybe, you should seriously reconsider this impetuous decision?

{Just kidding}

Sad but true Morgan. I started with Canon (Powershot G2), then was swayed by the Nikon's superior constructoin of the N80 ... I had originally looked at the Canon Rebel for a film SLR. Fell in love with the Nikon N80 (more like the Canon Elan than the Rebel, in all fairness).

I was only a "Nikon Head" for 2 months so my loyalty was just emerging when the Canon 10D showed up on the market. Plus I had always said I would never pay more than $1500USD for a D-SLR ... so here comes the Canon with a price of $1499.99. lol. It started making more sens ... same battery as my G2, I'll be able to use the same external flash on my G2 and 10D. Poof! There goes my loyalty. Bottom line ... Nikon F&?%$ed up by not saying anything at the PMA. There will be alot of budding "Nikon Heads" who will jump over to Canon. Alas.

Since I was leaning towards the Canon 10D, I started looking at their lenses ... really really nice. Especially their L lenses.

By the way, I am selling the Nikon N80 and my 75-300mm Nikor lens and replacing it with a Canon Elan, thus getting more involved = increased loyalty.

OK ... you canadians Nikon Heads (I'm a canadian). Nikon Canada has reduced their D100 by $500. You can order one at Henry's (very nice site) for $2750 Canadian (the Canon 10D retails for $2500). I've heard very nice things about this store.

I bought a 28-135 mm USM IS (image stabilisation) for $345 with a lens hood. I also bought the 75-300mm IS with lens hood and UV filter (for $400 shipping included). I also bought a Sigma 18mm for $160.

Jacko, I own the 28-135IS and LOVE it. Really a great, inexpensive lens. I rented a used 75-300 IS for a surfing trip to Costa Rica, and was ambivilant about it. Mine could have easily been a bad unit though.

I am not very used of ebay. Those lens you bought jacko they are used or new ?

I placed bids on E-Bay. For example, I won this 28-135mm lens

I also bought this 75-300 IS lens. My max bid did not meet his reserve. I contacted him after the auction and we hashed out a deal. I won't be paying Sales taxes (seller is also Canadian, and also not a business) so I was willing to pay a bit more.

They are used. I didn't get huge deals, but fair second hand prices. Lenses in Canada are over priced IMO, when compared to large US Stores and exchange rates. Our Canadian dollar has gained strength against the green back (US $). Perfect timing for me. :)

I'm pretty sure I will enjoy the 28-135mm lens, good feedback. The 75-300 is touch and go ... Most enjoy it, some hate it. We'll see how it works out.

poom poom poom poom ... .singing a nice and sweet song.

just 'ordered' my 10D from Penn Camera ( a local shop in my area). They could not really say when I will get it. they just said they are going to get x ( x varying between 20 and 75 depending who you talk to ) and that they already had orders for them. But they say that they serve customer who make a deposit .. so I did and I ended being told I should be in the first 20 batch. Oh ouaow ... do not know when I am going to get it .... homefully pretty soon .. even if I know I am going to keep that for a few years !!!

Now I will continue looking for the lenses .. I have to determine how much I want to put it it.

I guess I am going for the 50 1.8 why-not-it-is-so-cheap one.

Looking as well for the 28-135 IS, but one starting at 24 would be nice as well to be a little more wide. Not sure yet.

And in the long run I am almost decided, from what I read, for the 70-210 4L which looks to be a gemm (like they said) and not expensive for a very fine lens.

For macro . guess I might use etension tubes .. do not know yet bet ween that and some macro lens.

Oups .. I am telling all my life.

And by the way, what decided me for Canon is that in 'photocopier' .. there is the word 'photo'. I think that's a nice way to decide. ,-)

Morgan sheds a silent tear....feels very alone as a Nikon guy.
He feels surrounded by CANON folks.

He considers setting up a Nikon-only web site???

OK group hug.

I think Morgan forgot one important thing: It's all about the photos, not the equipment. I'll knock back a few cold ones with you if you don't hold my sudden mutiny against me.
