Quick portrait of my daughter's good friend. Halogen work lights bounced off of white poster board. She naturally has a very ruddy face - I've even toned down the red a bit, so (on my monitor anyway) the red tone to her face is a natural color.

Still looks a bit red... black and white or sepia tone will render that meaningless....

the pose.. looks 'uptight'. have the subject straighten their back while relaxing the shoulders.. also,, have them turn their chins more toward you if they are looking at you.. some head tilting would help create that 'model' look.
