Hello Everyone,

I finally got a chance to take some good pics with my new lens.
Please feel free to comment.

Gorgeous. I especially like the orange butterfly -- the photo itself takes on an abstract quality with the colors, lines, and narrow depth of field.

Very nice photos!

Very nice! The colors is the best thing about those pictures. No colorful enough? Like photomayhem said.....LOL.

I love that lens by the way. Im about to post a picture I took of a snowflake. I've always wanted to do that and now I can.

Great pictures and great lens.

It is probably my favorite lens that I currently have...

Stunning photos, I also particularly like the orange one.

I have to agree about this lens, I have one and could in no way be happier with it.

I just wish I could use it more for portrait shots, but unfortunately I need to be further away from the subject than this lens will allow, so tend to go for either the 50mm f1.4 or even just my standard zoom as it opens out to 18mm.

Corwyn, I left comments on the photos...
Yep, the 100/2.8 macro is one gret piece of glass. You'd have to pry mine from my dead fingers, LOL.

You should think about investing in a ring flash. DOF improves tremendously.

I avoid using flash in most of my work. In fact I don't even own a hotshoe mounted flash, but the ring flash is invaluable in macro photography in getting those needed f/stops shut down.

I am suprised by that, even more so by looking at your folio. Any reason why?

Portraits at night are so effective with flash.

I just avoid night portraiture for the most part unless I can find good available light.

I know that an on camera hotshoe flash is is the ruination of most portraits. It washes all detail from the face and often gives red eye or white reflective dots. Often you can bounce the flash if the condition is right and that will negate most of those problems, but I am very happy with the style I now have. I would not be at all against using a good off camera flash system except for the fact that I don't want to have to cart one around or take the time to set it up.

The ring flash I have is the Macro Twin which allows ajustment of the position of the two lights in relation to the subject thereby giving the resultant image a greater look of depth and detail.
