If I am stuck in determining which of two photos I want to submit to a challenge, would it be kosher to post them on the board first to get advice?

it might be kosher to post it in your workshop and PM a couple people whom you would like advice from and give them the direct link.. pretty sure that posting them in these forums wouldn't go over too well though. i'd assume posting to other photo websites for advice would be okay.

I've tried posting on other sites, but I keep getting a consistent "which ever you think would be best."

sometimes that's the best you can hope for ;)

Not sure if its a rule but it would certainly be an unwritten rule not to post an image in the forum before entering it into a challenge.

Sometimes it can be hard to decide but in the end you have to decide. Oh and do it for you not the voters as that is what really counts in the end!

I tend to ask people whom are not photographers as I think that group best represents the variation of tastes here.

If you ask some keen core photographers they will be very subjective.

Yes, go ahead but bear in mind that placing them here in this thread would qualify you for the following:

1. removal of eyes, swapped and placed back in orbits with tattered optic nerve facing outwards

2. both photos downloaded from the site, printed alongside your name, cermonially placed on a slab of SemTex and destroyed in a controlled explosion

3. the collective community of DPC arriving in the dead of night at your home, dragging you from your bed, stripping you naked and hanging you upside down outside your local 1 hour photo shop with a note nailed to your head reading: "I shall not toy with DPChallenge etiquette and mess with the minds of unprejudiced voters. Please kick me."

So it's really up to you.

Darn! Now the decision is even tougher!

Now that's more like the gentle persuasive approach I'm used to at dpc. ;)
