OK, so you figured out how to get bokeh but the image lacks an interesting subject. Like a beetle walking through or something. The chalenge was not about getting bokeh, it was about getting a great picture with bokeh in it.

To nsbca7... how do you define what is and isn't an "interesting subject"?

Would adding a beatle to the shot of a flower make it more interesting? Or how about adding a beatle to the shot of a car? Or to a glass of water tipping over?

Why does a subject need something else, such as a beatle to make it more interesting?... The beauty of photography is you can make what would appear to be an ordinary, banal subject... interesting... without adding something else.

Less is almost always better than more in photography.

I would say yes to all your questions. Adding a bug to a shot of a flower would make it an awful cliche too, so it's not a panacea. Now, with a car it probably would be more interesting.

But i agree with nsbca7 here, this shot doesn't hold my attention for a second, with all due respect. I couldn't agree more about making interesting stuff out of mundane things, believe me, but this shot just isn't a good example, sorry.

An interesting subject is something that someone personally finds interesting. LOL ....sorry, the obvious needed to be stated.

The picture is alright, might be cool as a print, but it's not particularly "wow"ing me.

P.S. Yes, the beauty of photography is making the mundane beautiful and interesting.....but just taking a picture of something boring doesn't automatically qualify it as interesting (much to the dismay of the regular commentors on DPC)... sorry. It's still up to the camera operator to make it un-boring.

The interesting thing about that pic, and I applaud it, is that it has pure, foreground bokeh. That's a real rarity. The bad news is it's not a very exciting picture, to me at least. But boy, that's some cool bokeh...

Robt.
