National High School Wrestling Team Rankings
Time to brag.
#11 - Poway High School, is ranked #11 in the USA.
This is the team my son is on (he is their 130 pounder, 21-2 this season) and seems they have a State Championship pretty well under their belt unless somthing drastic happens.
This may not seem as big for anyone not involved, but these kids have been working towards this now for about 6 years non-stop (regular & off-season, 12 months a year). It's the equivelant of the Super Bowl in this sport.
Not sure if these young men have their feet touching the ground. I know mine aren't - LOL.

| Congrats Brad. It is always a thrill when your child is doing well at something they enjoy. I bet you are on cloud 9, and well deserved to be there too. Yay!!! for Brads son.. |

Thanks All,
Zac is his name, and being a stud is his game. Well actually in that fashion he's the same as any teen age boy his age. LOL
A couple of local paper articles:
* This is a recording: Poway is the team to beat, Will someone else step up?
* Poway shows why it's No. 1
I got a press pass from the paper to shoot them for the season and even had a shot published last week.
Kinda' nice to give back to such a great effort.
I publish the shots on my shop's website for them (4th year doing it now) PHS Photo Gallery for the kids and families. I made it real web-friendly for those without broadband (100K images - thanks DPC for the education that made this possible). Parents/relatives love it, as they can't get down on the mats and take pictures like that.
When it all comes down to it, these are the important things in life really. Once gone, they can never be made up.

BradP,
First of all, congrats to your son and the best of luck at State.
My son was a three year Varsity wrestler (132-145) on a team that had a dual meet record of 62 consecutive wins. I myself was a wrestling refree for some nine years as well as working the scoring tables at tournaments.
I do appreciate the sacrifice and hard work these kids make: 5:30 practices; winter and summer tourmnaments; the weight watches. There is no other sport that requires more dedication, determination, and sacrifice. When you walk onto the mat it's just the two of you! Some people ask what's the point? There is nothing after wrestling unless you are olympic bound (one of Chris' teammates is still trying for an olympic spot). I agree. There is nothing afterward. . . but tremendous confidence.
Once again, Dad. Best of luck. And of course, you had nothing to do with it!
BTW, read your bio. When you really get serious about photography, please let us know! |
